One nice day a four hour driving waited me ahead. To get the time pass faster I thought to listen to some BBC programmes on the road. Their broadcasts are lovely. Nearly 33 million people listen to BBC Radio each week. Living on a country far from borders of UK I listen to BBC over the Internet. That means burning CD-s now. Burning CD-s is easy, but how to get those broadcasts..?
TotalRecorder records every sound you get in to your computer perfectly. Alas, recording a stream is very time consuming. Much more faster were to download programmes that are recorded already.
Googled terms "download broadcasts", "download radio broadcasts" and "recording radio broadcasts".

Finally search term "bbc archive records" brought me to BBC Podcast Directory. Luckily enough, by some certain reasons BBC archives some its Radio and TV content.
I downloaded "Radio 1 Documentary", a 14 meg file, duration 30 minutes, in .mp3 format.

Next. My car CD player does not play CD's with MP3. On a normal CD that plays in my car, there are files like Track01.cda.
Sometimes I have downloaded .mp3 songs from web, listened to them from my laptop, and burned on CD-s for car. What file formats are on those CD-s? Explored one, yes, there are also .cda files. So, my CD burning software Nero must have done this- converted them in background from .mp3 to .cda.
Well, let's check it out.
I take freshly downloaded BBC audio file radio1doc_20070822-2130.mp3 and show it to Nero Express 8.

Can't be better! Almost done! Jeee!
Last worries- how much place will take this 14MB mp3 file when turned into .cda on my 700MB CD disk? And how much more I can stuff on it?
Nero shows kindly that 700MB CD disk rooms 80 plus minutes of recording time. My only 14MB file is said to be about 30 minutes. Megabytes does not matter.
Great, I return to BBC web site and fetch some more archive records.
While downloading, some advertising: "Enjoy BBC audio on the move - a wide range of programmes and highlights are available as podcasts for you to download for free."
Ahhaa! I'm listening to podcasts! Cool, I'm a man of new era......

Wrote 2 fresh disks. In the car, there too are some CD-s, mostly techno and house music. Should be enough for my four-hours journey :)
